New Lab: Week 1
Well, my first week in the imaging lab has come and gone. The week was mostly about getting a homework set finished and turned in on Thursday. I'm spending a lot of my time re-learning imaging and signals/systems. These are courses that I took about 6-7 years ago at Hopkins so I've forgotten a lot of these things. Fortunately, as I spend time studying the material, some of it is coming back to me.
Throughout this week, my mind has gone through a spectrum of thoughts and emotions. The primary one, related to my schooling and recent lab switch is, "oh man, what have I done?" Because by switching labs, I have without a doubt extended my stay here at UT and also Austin. However, as I calmly think about it, I have to keep telling myself that this is a good move for me. Not only will it place me in a better position for an engineering career later on, but it also allows me to stay in Austin for a little while longer. That's good news for me because of the things outside of school that I am involved in. Right now things are a bit stressful because I need to get spun up on all the background related to imaging research. It's tough, but hopefully it won't take too much time.
I'm currently occupying a spot in ENS 631. In a few weeks, I'll be able to move into the actual office space for the lab. That's when I'll be able to put your calculator in jello:)

Last summer I went to the wedding of my friends Derrick and Angela. Tim and I were asked to put together the slideshow for the reception. However, I had very limited Adobe Premiere skills and really wasn't much help for putting together the slideshow. Tim did a great job though and the video was quite top-notch. So when I got home from the wedding, I decided I was gonna teach myself how to make movie slideshows. I decided to make a video about Tim, as a celebration of all that he is to us. If you don't know Tim don't worry. By the end of the slideshow you'll feel like you've known him for years. Right?

As a Republican and as well as a U2 fan, I really liked this video. On top of that, you have to give props to the guy who must have spent weeks parsing out words and clips from President Bush's speeches. Very impressive.

Another Johns Hopkins Video
This one from Silence of the Lambs. I dunno why it's so amusing for Ron and I to hear our school mentioned in movies, but I feel it necessary to share this on my blog.
I just came back a few minutes ago from a day of wedding stuff, pretty much one of the best weddings I have ever been to, and the first of many excellent weddings that I will be able to attend in the next couple of months. I'll put up pictures and talk about it later. Right now I must collapse in my bed from exhaustion.
